Bagnaria

Bagnaria is a small village in Lombardy, about 70 kilometres south of Milan and 40 kilometres south of Pavia. It sits in a quiet valley where the Staffora river flows through wooded hills. The comune covers 16.6 square kilometres of gentle slopes and farmland. Only 640 people live here, making it one of the least populated places in the province. It shares its borders with Gremiasco, Ponte Nizza and Varzi, each a short drive away. The village has no grand monuments or famous landmarks, yet it offers a peaceful retreat from nearby cities. The surrounding hills are covered with chestnut and oak woods that turn golden in autumn. Local farms grow cereals and keep small herds of cattle and sheep. A single main road winds through the valley, lined with stone farmhouses and old barns. Visitors find a quiet rural landscape with few distractions. The Staffora river provides a gentle sound as it passes through the valley. There are no museums or shops, only the occasional trattoria serving simple local dishes.
