Ortskapelle Eulenbach
The Ortskapelle hl. Anna stands at the northern end of the village green in Eulenbach, a hamlet within the market town of Vitis in the Waidhofen an der Thaya district of Lower Austria. This small Roman Catholic chapel is dedicated to Saint Anne and belongs to the Waidhofen an der Thaya deanery in the Diocese of St Pölten. It has been listed as a protected monument since the 1990s. The building was put up in 1734–35 and restored in 1888. Its simple Baroque style is shown by the rounded, recessed chancel at the north end and the small round-arched windows. A square tower with a pointed arch door and a steep slate spire added late in the 19th century rises at the front. Inside, the nave has a flat ceiling with moulded edges and the chancel is roofed with a small barrel vault. Inside, a Baroque altarpiece from about 1700 holds a painting of the Virgin being taught to read and statues of Saints Catherine and Barbara. A late-medieval carved wooden Pietà from around 1400, later overpainted, stands to one side. Plain white walls and the quiet village setting make the chapel a peaceful place to pause.
