Pfarrkirche Trautmannsdorf

The parish church of Trautmannsdorf stands in the village of Trautmannsdorf within the municipality of Bad Gleichenberg in Styria. It is dedicated to Saint Michael and belongs to the deanery of Feldbach in the diocese of Graz-Seckau. The building has been under monument protection since its construction. The church dates back to 1404, though the present structure was built between 1654 and 1664. It features a three-bay nave under a barrel vault with lunettes, and a narrower single-bay choir ending in a five-sided apse. The tower, added in 1664 by master builder Matthias Lanz, has a distinctive segmented onion dome. Inside, the high altar from 1778 holds figures by Franz Domiscus, while the side altars and pulpit date from the late 18th century. Twelve life-size apostle paintings line the walls, and a lunette relief near the organ loft shows the Virgin and Child with Saints Christopher and Erasmus. The church houses notable memorials, including a kneeling figure of Hans Freiherr von Trauttmansdorff beneath a cross, with a resurrection relief by Philibert Pocabello. The organ, originally installed in 1740, was rebuilt in 1891 by Matthäus Mauracher. Decorative wall paintings were added in 1929 by the Walter brothers. The interior blends early Baroque structure with later Baroque and Classicist furnishings.
