Hettstädt

Hettstädt is a mountain in the Thuringian Highland, standing between Oberweißbach and Neuhaus am Rennweg. It reaches 808 metres, making it one of the highest peaks in the region. The mountain is bordered by the Selig, Steinbiel and Fischbachsberg foothills, which mark the transition to the Northern High Slate Mountains. The area lies near the Eisenach–Budapest long-distance trail, a route crossing several European countries. Access to the peak is easiest from the road linking Cursdorf and Neuhaus am Rennweg. The mountain’s height and position give it a commanding view over the surrounding landscape.
