All Saints

All Saints is a Docklands Light Railway station in Poplar, East London. The station stands on the East India Dock Road, the main street of Poplar, opposite Chrisp Street Market. It takes its name from All Saints Church, a Church of England parish church built between 1821 and 1823. The station entrance faces the market while the Poplar Baths lie just beside it. Two rail sidings west of the station form part of the Poplar DLR depot. The first railway through this site opened in 1852 for freight only. Passenger trains began serving Poplar station in 1866, but services ended in 1944 during the Second World War. The line closed to freight in 1981 and the track was lifted by 1985. Today the station is served by trains every seven minutes off-peak to Stratford and Canary Wharf. At peak times the service increases to sixteen trains per hour in each direction. Visitors find the station beside Chrisp Street Market, one of London’s earliest purpose-built markets. All Saints Church stands a short walk away, along with Balfron Tower and Robin Hood Gardens. Poplar Recreation Ground Memorial is also nearby. London buses 15, 108, 115, D6, N15 and N551 stop outside the station.
