Schloss Kogl
Schloss Kogl stands in the Enns valley near Laussa in Upper Austria. Once a farmhouse, it was enlarged into a two-storey castle by Freiherr Oberst von Voglsang. Later owners included Josef Magerle, Karl Hesse, Karl Fiedler and Josef Altmann before Max Strobl von Ravelsberg bought it in 1891. Dr Thomke acquired the building in 1930 and sold it to Herr Untersinger in 1960. For a time it housed a guesthouse, but today the castle is empty. The main block is joined to a service wing. The lord’s quarters have two square towers with hipped roofs at one corner. A two-storey loggia faces the mountains. The service wing contains rooms upstairs and stables below. The whole structure shows the changes made over several centuries. Visitors see the castle’s exterior and the surrounding Enns valley landscape. The loggia offers views toward the mountains. Inside, the former guesthouse rooms remain, though the building is unoccupied. The architecture reflects its history as both farm and noble residence.
