Proact Stadium

Chesterfield FC Stadium stands on the former Dema Glassworks site in Whittington Moor, a few kilometres north of Chesterfield town centre. The all-seater ground replaced Saltergate in 2010 and has since staged England youth internationals and concerts. Local architects Ward McHugh Associates designed the curved-roof stands and oversaw the £13 million build. The stadium sits within a mixed-use scheme that includes a Tesco Extra, KFC and Enterprise car rental. A music video for The Rosadocs was filmed on the pitch in 2021. The ground’s four stands carry sponsors’ names and offer unrestricted sightlines. The West Stand holds 3,144 seats, glazed windshields and executive rooms, while the South Stand behind the goal seats 2,064 and generates the main atmosphere. The North Stand mirrors the South but has one disabled gantry instead of two. The East Stand combines a sports clinic, gym, wave pool and cafeteria, with away fans housed at its northern end. Concourses under each stand provide on-tap drinks and multiple screens. Outside the East Stand is The HUB, a £1.7 million community centre opened in 2013. It houses a café, playcentre, gym, therapy pool and classrooms run by the Chesterfield FC Community Trust. A memorial garden beside The HUB remembers fans and players lost in the 20th century’s wars. The first competitive league match saw Chesterfield beat Barnet 2–1 in August 2010, while the highest attendance reached 10,108 for a National League game in April 2024.
