Loch Leitir Easaidh

Loch Leitir Easaidh is a small, shallow freshwater loch in the Highlands of Scotland. It lies at the north-western end of Loch Assynt in the Assynt district of Sutherland. The loch sits on a low plateau with many other lochs nearby. To the north-east rise the three peaks of the Quinag massif, their Gaelic names forming a Y-shaped ridge. The highest of these is Sail Gharbh at 808 metres. The loch attracts fly-fishermen and walkers from across the region. An all-abilities path has been built around its shores by the Culag Community Woodland Trust. A survey in 2019 found trout and char to be the main fish species in the water. The surrounding plateau drains eastward through Gleannan Salach towards Loch Assynt. Visitors find a quiet loch set against the Quinag peaks. The all-abilities path allows easy access for all walkers. Two toilet blocks stand near the shore for convenience. The water reflects the surrounding hills on calm days. The area forms part of the Assynt-Coigach National Scenic Area.
