Bründlkapelle

The Bründlkirche zur unbefleckten Empfängnis stands on a wooded hill west of Dietmanns in Lower Austria. It belongs to the parish church of Groß-Siegharts and is protected as a listed monument. The small neogothic chapel crowns a site where an 18th-century pilgrimage began at a wayside shrine beside a spring. The building was completed between 1888 and 1902 under Dechant Leopold Gstettner. Its two-bay choir has a five-sided apse, plain exposed stonework and a tiled roof with a small bell turret. Inside, pointed ribbed vaults rest on carved corbels and are painted in neogothic patterns. The original stained glass and the carved altar with figures of Mary, Joachim and Anna show the craftsmanship of the period. Visitors reach the chapel along a quiet road through the forest. The west front displays a pointed doorway topped by a circular window and statues of the Virgin and Saint Joseph. A spiral stair turret on the south side leads to the gallery. Inside, the altarpiece and side panels depict scenes from the life of the Virgin and the Holy Family.
