öffentliches Gebäude in Gloggnitz
The old town hall in Gloggnitz stands in Schulgasse 4 as a two-storey brick building with side gables and a central tower bearing a clock. It was built in 1852 as a primary school before serving as the town’s Rathaus from 1898 to 1967. After that it housed a special school and the Dr Karl Renner library until 2019, when both moved to new quarters. In 2025 the empty building was stripped back, repaired and converted by architect Mario Teynor into a modern kindergarten. The façade was restored to its original appearance with box windows, and the rear now offers a green play area, a newly finished façade surface and a large mural by Bernd Püribauer. Inside, classrooms open off wide corridors that follow the historic layout. The central tower still holds its original clock, while outside the new play space is framed by the restored brickwork and the mural’s bright colours. The building links Gloggnitz’s past with its present in a quiet corner of the town centre.
