The River Evelix flows through the rugged landscapes of Sutherland in the Highlands. It rises from moorland and farmland covering about 78 square kilometres. The river runs past farmland and the village of Evelix before reaching Loch Evelix. At Meikle Ferry on the Dornoch Firth, it finally meets the sea just west of the Dornoch Bridge.

The river supports salmon and trout fishing, managed by Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries. Anglers visit from May to September to fish its waters. The Kyle of Sutherland and River Shin lie nearby, offering further fishing and scenic routes.

Visitors find quiet paths along the riverbank and views of the surrounding moorland. The estuary at Loch Evelix provides a peaceful spot to watch wading birds. The river’s entry at Meikle Ferry offers a view of the Dornoch Firth’s wide waters.
