Pfarrkirche hl. Leonhard, Lackenhof

The parish church of Lackenhof stands on higher ground at the north-western edge of the village in Gaming, Lower Austria. Built in 1786 in the Josephin style, it was raised to parish status in 1806. The tower and side additions were added between 1821 and 1837, with the sacristy following in 1957. A restoration took place inside in 1957 and outside in 1980.
The church’s western front has a plain gable tower with a basket-arched main door. Above the door are inscribed tablets for war victims. Both sides have chapels with gabled fronts and round-arched double windows, built to the same eaves and ridge height. The nave has a hollowed flat ceiling over a continuous cornice. Pilaster-supported basket arches open to the Marien and Trinity chapels. The square sacristy is at the east end. Wall paintings in the Trinity chapel date from 1957, along with stained glass and mosaic windows.
Inside, the high altar is a curved-column retable from the second quarter of the 18th century, moved here in 1784 from Gaming Charterhouse. The altar painting of the Trinity with Augustine, Ambrose and Nicholas was made by Johann Grieß in 1859. The pulpit in Zopf style dates from 1786. The organ, built by Max Jakob in 1890, was restored in 2023. The stone font from the first half of the 18th century has a shell basin on a baluster and figures of the Baptism of Christ on its lid.
