Pfarrkirche Taufkirchen an der Trattnach
The parish church of Taufkirchen an der Trattnach stands in the village of the same name in Upper Austria. It is dedicated to Saint Martin and belongs to the Kallham deanery in the Diocese of Linz. The building has been protected as a listed monument since the 18th century. The church began as a medieval structure mentioned in records around 1200. In 1725 the local master Jakob Pawanger transformed it into a Baroque form, adding elaborate plasterwork and widening the nave. A major restoration took place in 1958 to preserve the interior. Inside, the four-bay barrel-vaulted nave leads to a two-bay choir with ribbed vaulting. The north aisle is lined with flat domed ceilings and rich 1730s stucco. A 36-metre west tower rises above the entrance, topped by a bulbous dome and lantern. The high altar fills the full width of the sanctuary and carries a 1768 painting by Paul Steiner.
