Moarköpfl

The Moarköpfl is a 1 793-metre mountain in the Rottenmanner and Wölzer Tauern, part of the Lower Tauern range in Upper Styria. It stands south of the higher Schönberg and marks the boundary between the villages of Pölstal and Oberwölz. The summit is reached by routes that start near the Lachtal valley.

A ski-mountaineering trail runs from the Futtertrögl restaurant up to the Moarköpfl and on to the Schönberg. The round trip is 4.2 kilometres and graded easy to moderate. A separate hiking circuit in Lachtal also crosses the Moarköpfl, passing the Klosterneuburger Hütte, the Tanzstattkircherl chapel, the Kleine Zinken, the Hohe Zinken, the Niedere Zinken and the Grossa Almstadl restaurant.

The route offers wide views across the Tauern valleys and the surrounding peaks. Alpine meadows and rocky ridges form the landscape around the summit. The Lachtal valley below is known for its ski area and summer walking paths.
