Waun Rydd

Waun Rydd is a mountain in the Brecon Beacons National Park in southern Powys, Wales. It stands on a large boggy plateau east of Pen y Fan. The hill has a flat top with steep edges on several sides. To the northeast, Craig Pwllfa overlooks Cwm Banw. Craig y Fan looks east over Cwm Tarthwynni. The mountain features sharp rims and ridges extending in different directions. Gist Wen runs north-northeast to Bryn. Cefn Bach and Cefn Edmwnt ridges head northeast, while Twyn Du extends east towards Talybont Reservoir. Another ridge runs southeast to Allt Lwyd, and a broad ridge leads south to a col beyond Allt Forgan. Visitors find a rugged plateau with dramatic edges and sweeping views. The landscape includes steep cliffs and landslip areas below. Cwar y Gigfran marks a notable edge in the south. The ridges provide varied walking routes across the mountain. The surrounding area offers open moorland and distant reservoirs.
