Bezirksgericht Lembach

The former district court building in Lembach stands in the heart of the Mühlviertel region in Upper Austria. It occupies a prominent position in the small town of Lembach, part of the Rohrbach district. The three-storey structure with its hipped roof was completed in 1856. Its main façade features a rusticated ground floor and giant corner pilasters on the upper levels. A stairwell projection rises at the rear of the building. The court once handled civil and criminal cases for the surrounding area. It began operations in 1850 under the Linz regional court. Until 2002 it served as a second-class district court, with appeals going to Rohrbach. The building itself contains flat barrel-vaulted corridors and a Biedermeier-style staircase with iron railings. Granite slabs cover the floors throughout the interior. Today the building houses flats and the local police station. It remains protected as a listed monument. The rear stairwell projection and the original granite floors are still visible. The rusticated ground floor and corner pilasters mark the building’s mid-19th-century design.
