The Catholic parish and pilgrimage church of St Notburga stands above the Inn valley on a gentle rise outside Eben am Achensee in the Schwaz district of Tyrol. It belongs to the deanery of Fügen-Jenbach in the diocese of Innsbruck and is protected as a listed monument. The church is dedicated to the 14th-century saint who worked as a servant in Rattenberg.
The church is worth visiting for its long history and fine art. Excavations in 1731 uncovered the remains of an early church about ten metres long built around the year 1000. The building was rededicated to St Notburga in 1434 and became a parish in 1891. The present baroque nave was constructed between 1736 and 1738 by Jakob Singer, while the late-gothic choir and east tower date from 1510–1515.
Inside, the church offers a three-bay nave with a two-bay choir covered by a barrel vault on wall pillars. The stonemason Franz Xaver Feuchtmayer created the rich stucco work, and Johann Georg Höttinger painted frescoes showing scenes from the life of St Notburga. The high altar around 1740 houses the standing skeleton of the saint beneath glass, flanked by statues of local patrons. The organ case from the 18th century contains a mechanical instrument built by Franz Reinisch II in 1891.
