MKM Stadium

The MKM Stadium stands in Kingston upon Hull’s West Park, the first English stadium built within a parkland setting. Its asymmetrical bowl shape holds 25,586 seats, with a single tier around most of the ground and a second tier on the west side. The seats are mainly black, trimmed with white and amber bands that spell ‘Hull’ in two stands and display a coronet in another. The stadium’s blue and gold accents echo the colours of Hull City Council, which owns the site. The stadium matters because it hosts both Hull City A.F.C. and Hull F.C., giving the city top-flight football and rugby league. It has staged international matches, major concerts by Elton John and The Who, and the Raich Carter Trophy games between Hull City and Sunderland. The complex also includes the 1,500-seat Bonus Arena, a skate park, all-weather pitches, classrooms, a fitness suite and a library. Visitors find a modern bowl with clear sightlines and automated pitch care for both football and rugby. The Bonus Arena hosts concerts and events, while the skate park and pitches serve local clubs. Outside, the park setting keeps the stadium light and green, with corporate boxes and CCTV cameras tucked discreetly behind the scenes.
