Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Rövershagen

Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Rövershagen stands beside the B 105 near Rostock in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It began in 1989 as a small farm shop selling coffee, cake and local produce. The Dahl family turned it into a large farm market with rides and attractions. Today the site mixes a working farm with a leisure park open every day of the year. Visitors walk past strawberry fields that stretch across 300 hectares. In season the fields are dotted with pick-your-own stalls where families gather fruit. The place draws more than five million visitors a year across all its parks. Rövershagen alone welcomed 1.2 million guests in 2014, making it the most popular tourist spot in the state. The Dahls opened a railway halt in 2023 so holidaymakers can arrive by train from Rostock or Stralsund. The village-style park offers rides for children, an aquarium, tractor rides and a giant slide. There is also a world record collection of coffee pots with over 50,000 items. Inside the Hofladen shop shelves are filled with strawberry jams, freshly roasted coffee, handmade soap and sweets. The on-site bakery turns out bread each morning while the ice-cream parlour serves scoops made from the farm’s own berries. Outside, children race down the slide or queue for the small railway. Beyond the rides, the farm continues to grow strawberries on a commercial scale. The scent of ripe fruit lingers in the summer air as tractors carry loads to the packing sheds.
