Pfarrkirche Unterrabnitz

The Roman Catholic parish church of Unterrabnitz stands above the village in the old cemetery of Unterrabnitz-Schwendgraben. It is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul and belongs to the deanery of Oberpullendorf. The church has been under Denkmalschutz since the listing. The building began in the Middle Ages and was re-established after the Reformation in 1772. The simple structure has a west tower with a square base and a stone spire. The nave ends in a semicircular apse, and Baroque buttresses support both nave and apse. These buttresses were restored in 1974. Inside, the three-bay nave leads to a shorter gallery bay. Pilasters and a main cornice from the 18th century divide the walls, and a flat ceiling spans nave and apse. The west gallery rests without supports. The Baroque high altar retains two wooden figures of Saints Peter and Paul, and an 18th-century painting of the Assumption hangs on the apse wall. A golden dove in rays crowns the apse ceiling.
