Pfarrkirche Unterpetersdorf

The parish church of Unterpetersdorf stands in the village of the same name, beside the Deutschkreutzer Straße in Burgenland. Built in 1788, it is a fine example of classical style and was raised to parish rank in 1939. The building has been protected as a listed monument since the 19th century. Inside, the church combines older and newer parts. The original nave has a flat-panelled vault between arched ribs on pilasters, while the 1965 extension added a wider chancel under a pyramid roof. A three-storey west tower with a curved gable and octagonal spire rises above the main entrance. The west gallery rests on two wooden columns, and above the altar hangs a carved wooden crucifix from the 19th century. Outside, the churchyard is quiet and open, with views across the surrounding farmland. The west façade shows the dates 1855 and 1928 carved in the keystone of the main door, marking earlier restorations. Nearby, the organ built by Gebrüder Rieger in 1894 has six stops and still sounds during services.
