The Heimatmuseum im Spitalhof Möhringen stands in Stuttgart-Möhringen, occupying the upper floor of a building first constructed in 1469 for the Esslinger Katharinenhospital. After wartime damage in 1944 led to demolition in 1959, the museum reopened in 1962 within a new structure that reused the original façade. The collection centres on local history, with prehistoric and early medieval finds alongside views of old Möhringen, association records, a circa 1850 fire engine, Anna Peters’s paintings, and items linked to Kammersänger August Kies.

The museum also displays furniture, household items, flax-working tools, textiles and life-course documents such as confirmation letters from Möhringen’s farming past. It belongs to the Stuttgart City Museum network and hosts rotating exhibitions on local themes. Schools and visiting groups can arrange tours, while volunteers from ILM e.V. run the day-to-day operation.

Beside the museum rises the Spitaltor, a 1589 gatehouse that survived a 1911 earthquake which destroyed the adjacent barn. The rebuilt barn was replaced by a private house still standing today, and both gatehouse and house are protected monuments. The ensemble offers a quiet corner where visitors can step from modern displays into the 16th-century gateway and the preserved farmyard setting.
