Fischlham Parish Church

The parish church of Fischlham stands in the village of Fischlham within the municipality of Fischlham in Upper Austria. It is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Peter and linked to Kremsmünster Abbey. The church and its adjoining cemetery are protected as historic monuments. The church’s origins date back to 1179, though the present Gothic structure with its Baroqueised nave was largely shaped in the 15th and 17th centuries. The choir, built around 1450, features a net-ribbed vault and is slightly offset to the south. The west tower, marked 1447, carries a Baroque onion dome added in 1734. The cemetery gate, topped with its own onion dome from 1609, completes the ensemble. Inside, the high altar in Neo-Gothic style was installed in 1880 and holds four reliquaries from 1749. Side altars from 1715 were renewed in 1881, probably by Johann Urban Remele. The pulpit, carved in 1759 by Franz Xaver Leithner and painted by Adam Racher, depicts the ship of Saint Peter. Notable grave slabs bear lifesize relief figures of Warmund von Oberhaym (died 1519) and Sigmund Jagnreutter (died 1578), among others.
