Gsallkopf

The Gsallkopf is a 3,277-metre peak in the Ötztal Alps of Austrian Tirol. It stands in the Kaunergrat range, north-west of the Rofelewand, between the Pitztal and Kaunertal valleys. About four kilometres north-east of Feichten in the Kaunertal municipality, the mountain rises above the Gsallferner glacier on its western flank. Climbers reach the summit from the Verpeilhütte via the south flank in roughly four hours. The route carries UIAA grade II difficulty, making it a manageable challenge for experienced walkers. Views from the top stretch across the Ötztal and Kaunergrat ridges, taking in the surrounding high valleys. The route itself follows a clear alpine path that crosses the Gsallferner before ascending the final slopes. The Verpeilhütte provides a base for the climb and a place to rest before the ascent. On clear days the summit offers wide views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers.
