Lavanttal-Arena

Lavanttal-Arena stands one kilometre south of Wolfsberg in Carinthia, a modern football stadium built in 1984. It replaced the older Sportstadion Wolfsberg and became the home ground of Wolfsberger AC. The pitch is surrounded by a single grandstand holding 7,300 seats. The stadium was enlarged in 2012 when the club reached the Austrian Football Bundesliga. The expansion added 800 seats and cost €2.5 million. The stadium opened with an Olympic qualifier in May 1988 when Austria lost 2–0 to Finland. Goals came from Seppo Nikkilä and Ismo Lius, marking its first major match. Since then it has hosted every home game of Wolfsberger AC. The pitch is laid with natural grass and framed by a running track. Floodlights stand at each corner, allowing evening matches. Visitors find a compact bowl with a single covered stand on the west side. The east side remains open, giving views across the Lavant valley. The main entrance faces a small car park and a row of floodlit training pitches. Beyond the track lie low hills of the Koralpe range, visible on clear days. The atmosphere is calm on weekdays, lively on match days when home supporters fill the seats.
