Filialkirche Radochsberg

The Filialkirche Radochsberg is a small Roman Catholic church in the Stocker district of Abtenau, a village in the Hallein district of Salzburg. It stands twelve kilometres from the parish church in Abtenau and is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Saint Leonard. The building is protected as a historic monument. The church was built in the early 20th century, between 1901 and 1903, in the Neo-Gothic style. A century later, in 2002, a major renovation began to preserve the structure. The community, local authorities, and religious institutions funded the work, including repairs to the roof, walls, windows, and interior decorations. Visitors find a restored Neo-Gothic interior with polished Untersberg marble floors and murals restored by Pater Roman Morandell. The church also features hand-blown stained glass from Schlierbach Abbey and a new electric bell system. Outside, it overlooks a site used for worship over 2,600 years ago.
