Theater Frankfurt/Theater im Schuppen
Theater Frankfurt stands in the eastern German town of Frankfurt (Oder), a children’s and youth theatre founded in 1989 and now housed in a converted shed on Sophienstraße. Its ensemble turned professional in 1995, and since 2006 the attached school has trained actors recognised by the state. The theatre is a founder member of the European Young Theatre network based in Grenoble and also belongs to the Brandenburg association of independent theatres. The company performs classics by Shakespeare and Molière alongside pieces by Kleist and Poe, plus original productions and work rooted in the methods of Stanislavski, Brecht and Grotowski. Every week an open rehearsal invites anyone to join a session focused on physical contact, while regular training covers voice, rhythm, acrobatics and juggling. About forty children, teenagers and adults currently take part in these groups, meeting on the main stage, in the mirrored studio, or in the shed and other local venues. Weekend workshops for acting students and theatre lovers run several times a year, giving participants a chance to create short pieces together. Public performances appear at the end of each season, when the young casts present the results of their work on the same stage where they have trained.
Opening hours and admission prices change with the season and are therefore not part of this text. Current details from the operator
