Filialkirche Hehenberg

The Filialkirche Hehenberg stands in the village of Hehenberg, part of Taufkirchen an der Trattnach in Upper Austria. This small Roman Catholic pilgrimage church, dedicated to Saint Vitus, belongs to the parish church of Taufkirchen and the deanery of Kallham in the Diocese of Linz. It is protected as a listed monument. The building dates from the late Gothic period and has a single-nave, two-bay hall with ribbed vaulting and recessed buttresses. The lower, single-bay choir ends in a five-sided apse and is also rib-vaulted. A slender spire tops the western tower, while the south door and sacristy entrance show Gothic detailing. Inside, the high altar and pulpit date from the late 17th century. The right side altar holds Baroque figures in the style of Johann Peter Schwanthaler the Elder from the third quarter of the 18th century. The left side altar displays a late Gothic clothed Madonna and Child.
