Archbach

The Archbach, also called Planseeache, is a seven-kilometre stream in the Austrian Alps. It rises in Breitenwang at the sole outflow of Plansee lake and then descends north-west through steep valley walls. After tumbling over the Stuibenfälle waterfall near Reutte, it reaches Pflach where it joins the Lech. The stream carries water from several tributaries, the largest being the Zwieselbach, Finsterlaster Bach and Lettenbach. All three join on the right bank within the district of Reutte. Its water quality is rated class II, showing healthy conditions for fish and plant life. Visitors follow the valley path that runs alongside the Archbach from the lake to the waterfall. The route passes through meadows and mixed woodland, offering views of the surrounding peaks. At the Stuibenfälle a wooden bridge lets walkers cross close to the cascades. The final stretch to Pflach follows gentle farmland before the stream disappears into the Lech.
