Pfarrkirche St. Marienkirchen am Hausruck

The parish church of St Marienkirchen am Hausruck stands in the village of the same name in Upper Austria. It is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and belongs to the deanery of Ried im Innkreis. Both the church and its surrounding cemetery are protected as historic monuments. The church dates from the mid-14th century and shows clear Gothic features. The nave has four bays with a ribbed net vault and a lower three-bay choir ending in a three-sided apse, also ribbed. A three-bay west gallery projects into the nave, and the tower contains a vaulted ground floor topped by a neo-Gothic pointed spire. The late-Gothic south door and the neo-Gothic furnishings add to the building’s layered style. Inside, the high altar holds a late-15th-century seated Madonna and Child, the Child a later replacement. A neo-Gothic crucifix spans the chancel arch, and the two-manual organ with fourteen stops was built in 1885 by Johann Lachmayr of Linz-Urfahr. The overall effect is one of careful Gothic revival craftsmanship set against earlier medieval forms.
