Brüggelekopf

The Brüggelekopf is a mountain rising to 1 182 metres in the Bregenzerwald range of the Austrian Alps. It stands above the village of Alberschwende, which lies in the Bregenz district of Vorarlberg. The slopes around the summit belong to the Bregenzerwald community, making it their local mountain. From the top walkers look down over the scattered houses of Alberschwende below. To the north-west the Bodensee glints in the distance. To the east the view stretches across the Bregenzerwald forest towards Egg and follows the Bregenzer Ache river as far as its meeting with the Weißach. A small refreshment hut near the summit serves walkers before they set off on routes such as the high moor path to the pilgrimage church at Bildstein. Another trail leads through Kaltenbrunnen to Egg, while a third crosses the Geißkopf saddle to the Bödele ski plateau. The old chair-lift that once carried visitors to the top no longer runs after its licence expired.
