Tristkogel

The Tristkogel is a 2,095-metre peak in the Kitzbühel Alps of Tirol, close to the Salzburg border. It stands north-east of the Torsee, the lake from which the Saalach river rises. With the Gamshag to its west, the Tristkogel forms a striking col called the Tor, visible from Kitzbühel eleven kilometres away. The mountain’s north face holds a via ferrata for climbers. Walkers reach the summit from the Bochumer Hütte via Oberkaseralm and the Tor in about two hours. A longer route from Lengau in the upper Glemmtal takes roughly six hours up and down. In winter the Tristkogel becomes a popular ski tour. A 360-degree panorama shows the broad grassy ridge and steep northern walls. The Torsee glitters below, while the Salzach valley stretches towards Salzburg. On clear days the Hohe Tauern and Lechtal Alps appear in the distance.
