Keepmoat Stadium

Keepmoat Stadium stands on the edge of Doncaster’s Lakeside Sports Complex, a modern sports village built on reclaimed land near the River Don. The main stadium seats 15,231 and shares the site with a smaller athletics stadium, training pitches and community facilities. Three local clubs share the ground: Doncaster Rovers football club, Doncaster Rugby League club and Doncaster Rovers Belles Ladies Football Club. The complex cost about £32 million to build and opened in 2007 after a £20 million stadium investment. The stadium has hosted major sporting events and concerts since its opening. Doncaster Rovers played their first match there on New Year’s Day 2007, beating Huddersfield Town 3–0. The venue later staged the 2012–13 FA Women’s Cup final and a record 20–0 England women’s victory over Latvia in 2021. Rugby League Challenge Cup semi-finals and Rugby League World Cup group games have also been held on the pitch. Elton John, Westlife and Louis Tomlinson have performed at the stadium, while boxing, MMA and darts exhibitions have taken place inside. Inside, the stadium has four named stands: the East Stand with a family area, the West Stand reception, the South Stand known as the Black Bank where ultras gather, and the North Stand for away fans. The pitch uses synthetic fibres woven with natural grass to stay firm through the season. Beside the main bowl, the mini-stadium has a six-lane running track and a 500-seat stand for athletics and reserve teams. The complex also offers corporate event spaces and private hire rooms for weddings and functions.
