Speyburn-Glenlivet distillery

Speyburn-Glenlivet distillery stands beside the River Spey in Rothes, Moray. Founded in 1897 by John Hopkins & Company, it sits on land chosen for the clean water of the Granty Burn. Charles C Doig, the renowned distillery architect, designed the buildings and added the classic pagoda ventilator still seen today. The distillery is owned by Inver House Distillers, which also runs Old Pulteney, Knockdhu, Balblair and Balmenach. Speyside single malt from here reaches markets around the world. The distillery’s whiskies have won many awards. Speyburn 15-year-old and 18-year-old expressions have each earned gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Speyburn Arranta Casks took silver in the same event. Other accolades include double gold for Speyburn 15-year-old at the San Francisco Wine & Spirits Challenge and repeated silver medals at the International Wine & Spirits Competition. The brand is now the ninth best-selling single malt in the USA. Visitors find a working distillery with stills under the Doig ventilator.
