Morpeth Town A.F.C.

Morpeth Town A.F.C. plays in Northumberland, a county in north-east England. The club was formed in 1909 and has spent most of its history in regional leagues. Since 1994 it has been based at Craik Park, an athletics ground built in 1972 that once had a six-lane cinder track. The football club added a 100-seat stand, new clubhouses and floodlights after moving in. The running track has since been removed and an artificial pitch installed in 2021. The club’s honours include winning the FA Vase in 2015–16, lifting the Northern Premier League Division One East title in 2018–19 and claiming the Northern League Division Two championship in 1995–96. Morpeth has also won the Northumberland Senior Cup three times, most recently in 2022–23. Its best FA Cup run reached the fourth qualifying round in 1998–99 and again in 2021–22. Craik Park now hosts league matches on the artificial pitch surrounded by open terraces. The ground lies on the edge of Morpeth, a small market town beside the River Wansbeck. Visitors can watch non-league football in a setting that still shows traces of its athletics past. The clubhouse provides a place to meet players and supporters after games.
