The Kalvarienbergkapelle stands on a hill above the Gail valley in St. Stefan im Gailtal. A narrow mountain road winds up to the chapel, lined with the fourteen Stations of the Cross. A cemetery surrounds the building except on its front side.

Built in 1771, the chapel replaced an earlier structure and its Stations of the Cross date from 1766. The Stations were restored in 1991 after years of weathering. The interior follows a simple square plan with rounded corners and a shallow barrel vault. A flat-arched archway leads to the semicircular choir, beyond which lies a second chapel space.

The front façade shows late-baroque styling with pilasters framing a gable. Inside, the main altar features a carved Crucifixion group set against a painted landscape of Golgotha and Jerusalem. Above the group, God the Father appears among clouds of angels. A slender wooden bell turret tops the roof, topped by a cross and a trumpeting angel weathervane.
