Schloss Triftlfing
Schloss Triftlfing stands in the village of Triftlfing, part of the municipality of Aufhausen in the district of Regensburg, Bavaria. It occupies a protected site on the Schloßplatz, recognised both as a listed building and as an archaeological monument. The place began as a medieval lowland castle before becoming a manor house.
The site has passed through many noble hands since the 12th century. Count Gebhard III of Sulzbach gave it to Prüfening Abbey, then Gräfin Elisabeth of Ortenburg granted it to Passau Cathedral. Later owners included the German Knights, the Woller family of Regensburg, Wernt the Auer, and Degenhart the Hofer. By the 15th century the Stauffer von Ehrenfels family held the manor, followed by the Zenger, the Fraunhofen barons, and finally the Königsfeld family in the 17th century.
Today the building is a two-storey gabled structure with curved gables under a pitched roof. A fire in the 18th century destroyed much of the earlier water-burg layout, including the bergfried and donjon-like tower. The present house sits in a former moated setting described in 1737 as a village and castle lying in a valley surrounded by a ditch.
