Gut Rothneusiedl stands on the southern edge of Vienna in Rothneusiedl. It was once the seat of local authority and is now protected as a historic building. The estate includes a large park of ten thousand square metres.

The estate passed through many hands over the centuries. Max Beck von Leopoldsdorf bought it in 1528, and later owners included the Starhemberg family who held it for nearly two hundred years. In the 19th century the Herzfelder family turned it into a modern farm and grand country house. Robert Herzfelder, a leading entrepreneur, ran the estate while also running brickworks and breweries that shaped Vienna’s growth.

Visitors find a historic gatehouse with a broad carriageway leading into the park. Above the gate once stood a chapel dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene, where regular masses were held. A grand new manor house was added in 1908, designed by Ludwig Schöne, a noted architect of the Ringstrasse era. The estate remains in private hands today, preserving its layered history within a quiet southern suburb of Vienna.
