Pfarrkirche hl. Anna, Sankt Marein im Mürztal

The parish church of St Marein in the Mürztal stands in the market town of St Marein in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district of Styria. It is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Anne and belongs to the deanery of Bruck an der Mur in the diocese of Graz-Seckau. The church and its churchyard are protected as a monument. The parish was first mentioned in 1251, though the church itself was tied to St Lambrecht Abbey from 1103 until 1958. The building shows clear Gothic features, with a two-bay choir from the 14th century and a two-bay nave from around 1400. The choir has a five-sided apse, pointed windows, simple buttresses and ribbed vaulting. The nave is wider and higher than the choir, with its own ribbed vault and hanging keystones, one of which bears four busts. Inside, the high altar dates from about 1700 and holds a late-Gothic group of Saint Anne with the Virgin and Child from the late 15th century. The tabernacle is mid-15th century, the side altars early 18th century, and the rococo pulpit is also from that period. Outside, two gravestones mark the resting places of Leopold Turk, who died in 1841, and Barbara Breyer, who died in 1850.
