Pfarrkirche Langesthei

The Catholic parish church of St Jerome stands in Langesthei, a hamlet east of Kappl village in the Landeck district of Tirol. Built in 1694, it was raised to parish rank in 1891 and is surrounded by a cemetery. The simple baroque structure has a north tower with pointed sound openings and a spire. Inside, the two-bay nave and single-bay choir carry ribbed barrel vaults painted in 1823 by Leopold Puellacher. His frescoes show Maria securing a harvest blessing for Langesthei, the four church fathers, and the martyrdom of St John Nepomuk. A 1973 altar piece pairs with a 17th-century South-Tyrolean plague cross, while statues by Ingenuin Lechleitner and others line the space. The west porch doubles as a chapel and houses the 1871 Franz Weber organ. Two historic bells, cast in 1718 and 1724, hang in the tower. The church’s restrained baroque style and its painted ceiling make it a quiet witness to local faith and craftsmanship.
