Stadttheater Bad Hall

The Stadttheater Bad Hall is a theatre in the spa town of Bad Hall in Upper Austria. It stands on Steyrerstraße, a short walk from the town’s Kurpark. The building opened in 1884 after an earlier wooden summer theatre had operated since 1871. Over the decades it has been enlarged and modernised several times while keeping its classic façade. The theatre has hosted many well-known performers, including Paul Hörbiger, Marcel Prawy, Otto Schenk, Peter Alexander, Udo Jürgens and Adolf Dallapozza. Since 1987 it has staged annual operetta festivals, and since 1998 regular musicals have been added to the programme. In addition to plays, the house presents concerts and cabaret evenings throughout the year. Inside, the auditorium seats around three hundred spectators on comfortable red velvet seats. The stage is wide enough for full operetta productions, and the fly-tower allows complex scenery changes. Outside, the Kurpark’s linden avenues and fountains provide a peaceful setting for pre-theatre strolls.
