Sandy Park

Sandy Park stands in Exeter, just off the M5 motorway at junction 30, about five miles from the city centre. It is a rugby union stadium with a conference and banqueting centre attached. The ground became the home of Exeter Chiefs in 2006 after the club moved from their old County Ground. The stadium now holds 15,600 spectators and has hosted major rugby events. It also serves as a venue for conferences and private events. The stadium has grown in stages since 2012. The first phase of redevelopment added 2,900 seats and a larger bar area in 2014. A second phase in 2021 increased capacity by 1,948 seats. Sandy Park hosted five matches during the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup, drawing a record crowd of 11,618. It was also one of thirteen venues for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Visitors find a modern stadium with a large pitch surrounded by stands on three sides. The west stand holds the main bar and hospitality areas. The east stand is smaller because of its position near the motorway. The conference centre offers space for events and gatherings. The stadium’s location makes it easy to reach by road.
