Burgstall Im Hof

Burgstall Im Hof lies on the eastern edge of Neidlingen, a village in the Esslingen district of Baden-Württemberg. It is one of two vanished lowland castles built by the Lords of Neidlingen. The smaller of the pair, it survives as a low mound and a fragment of its defensive ditch. The Lords of Neidlingen constructed both castles in the Middle Ages. The larger one stood by the Lindach stream south of the church, while Burgstall Im Hof occupied the site now marked by the mound and ditch. Over centuries the earthworks have settled into the landscape. Visitors find a quiet grassy rise beside modern houses. A shallow depression traces the old ditch, and the mound itself is only a few metres high. The setting is rural, with farmland and woodland close by. The site offers a glimpse of Neidlingen’s medieval past without crowds or modern distractions.
