Pfarrkirche Hl. Bernhard
The parish church of Eichenberg stands in the village of Eichenberg in Bregenz district, Vorarlberg. It is dedicated to Saint Bernard and belongs to the Bregenz deanery of the Diocese of Feldkirch. The building is protected as a historic monument. The church was built in 1836–37 under architect Martin von Klink and painter Johann von Hörmann, with master builder Josef Daum and carpenter Johann Stöckeler. It began as a branch church of Bregenz, became an expositur church in 1842, and was raised to parish status in 1873. The late-Classical design has a recessed semicircular apse and a tower at the east end, surrounded on the north side by a cemetery. Inside, the high altar features a shallow columned structure with a pediment and a tall tabernacle zone by Josef Zipper from 1840. The altarpiece showing Saint Bernard before the Virgin and Child was painted by Frater Josef Wiedemann OCist in 1901, with a Sacred Heart image in the pediment. The organ was built by Anton Behmann in 1888 and enlarged by the Mayer brothers in 1922.
