St. Antoniuskapelle

The St. Antoniuskapelle stands in Lustenau, a market town in Vorarlberg. It is a small Roman Catholic chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and belongs to the parish of Hasenfeld. The building is protected as a historic monument. The chapel was built between 1897 and 1901 by local residents through voluntary labour and donations. It was consecrated in 1901 by Dean Thomas Hagen. The interior was renovated in 1994–95, when new furnishings were installed by artist Gernot Riedmann. The chapel’s design reflects both Gothic and modern influences. Outside, the chapel is a simple rectangular building with a gabled roof and a small bell tower. A covered porch leads to the main entrance, above which are three windows. Inside, the nave has three bays with ribbed vaulting and a raised choir. The altar, ambo, tabernacle and font form a single ensemble of stone and metal by Gernot Riedmann. The side altars hold statues of the Virgin Mary and Saint Jude. A bronze sculpture of the Risen Christ by Adi Holzer dominates the sanctuary. Stained glass windows depict scenes from the life of Saint Anthony and abstract motifs. The chapel seats 56 people on wooden pews.
