The Uetliberg is a mountain in the Swiss plateau, part of the Albis chain. It rises above the city of Zürich, offering views of the city, the Zürichberg and Lake Zürich. The boundary between Zürich and the municipalities of Stallikon and Uitikon runs across its slopes. The summit, called Uto Kulm, sits in Stallikon and serves as Zürich’s local mountain. Two towers stand at the top: one is a look-out tower rebuilt in 1990, the other is the Uetliberg TV-tower also rebuilt that year.
The mountain is reached by train from Zürich’s central station. The Uetliberg railway station lies below the summit, connected by a path of 812 metres. The S10 line runs every half-hour and takes twenty minutes to reach the station. From there, walkers and cyclists can start their routes up the slopes. The area also gives its name to the Uto section of the Swiss Alpine Club.
At the summit, the Hotel Uto Kulm provides shelter and views. A panoramic footpath follows the Albis ridge toward Felsenegg, where the Adliswil-Felsenegg cable car begins. The mountain has camping spots and water fountains along its paths. A downhill mountain bike track starts near the camping area and ends at Triemli railway station. The ridge walk links to the cable car, giving access to the valley below.
