Neues Schloss Schnait

The Neues Schloss Schnait is a small country manor in Schnait, a district of Weinstadt in the Rems-Murr district of Baden-Württemberg. Built by the Gaisberg family, it stands on Haldenstraße and is one of three noble seats in the village. Two belonged to the Gaisbergs and one to the Schenken von Limpurg. The manor is a plain two-storey building. The ground floor is of stone masonry while the upper floor is plastered timber framing. A large gate faces the street and the remains of a small tower can still be seen. The tower may have been removed or never completed. In the 16th century the Gaisbergs replaced the ruined Burg Schnait with the first Schloss and later built the Neues Schloss in 1609. In 1779 Karl Johann Friedrich von Gaisberg sold both manors to the villagers for 15,000 gulden. Since then the house has been lived in by local families. It remains in private hands and is not open to the public.
