Burg Weidach

Burg Weidach stands in the Alb-Donau district near Blaustein, a small village in Baden-Württemberg. It was once a proper castle but now only a mound of rubble remains. The site lies close to the edge of the Swabian Jura, where the land rises sharply from the plain. Historians recognise the castle’s name from a 1989 guidebook by Günter Schmitt. His book describes not only Weidach but also three other nearby ruins. The guide helps walkers explore the middle and southern parts of the Alb between Ulm and Sigmaringen. Visitors find a quiet grassy mound with scattered stones and a few low walls. The view stretches across the valley towards the distant villages. A footpath leads from Weidach up to the site in a few minutes. The remains are small but give a sense of the castle’s former size.
