The Hive Stadium
The Hive Stadium stands on the site of the former Prince Edward Playing Fields in Canons Park, within the London Borough of Harrow. It is a football centre with pitches for hire, conference and banqueting facilities, an on-site gym, café and bar. The stadium is home to Barnet of EFL League Two, London Bees of the FA Women’s Championship and formerly hosted Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Women. The site was once intended for Wealdstone F.C. before construction halted in 2004. Barnet later acquired the lease and developed it into their current home. The stadium’s record attendance reached 6,215 for Barnet’s 3–3 draw with Brentford in January 2019. Trevor Brooking and Fabio Capello opened the training ground in 2009, which grew into a centre of excellence. Barnet moved from Underhill Stadium in 2013 after years of planning disputes. The Hive has hosted international matches, including England U20’s draw with Mexico U20 in 2015. It also served as a base for foreign teams preparing for games at Wembley. Visitors find a stadium with a total capacity of 6,500, including a West Stand holding 2,700 and a North Stand for away fans with a bar beneath. The East Stand was expanded and now includes a medical centre, banqueting suite and ticket office. The site covers 44 acres and offers public gym facilities used by both club players and local residents. Canons Park tube station is just 400 metres away, making it easily accessible. The stadium’s ongoing development includes plans for a new South Stand and additional sporting facilities.
