Kaiserspitz
Kaiserspitz is a small settlement in the Vienna Woods of Lower Austria, part of the town of Pressbaum near Rekawinkel. It sits on a forested ridge 416 metres above sea level, just 15 kilometres west of Vienna’s city boundary. The village stretches east of the summit around the 400-metre contour along the border with Eichgraben. Roughly a hundred homes line the quiet lanes among beech and pine.
In 1926 the Republic granted cleared land on the Kaiserplateau to unemployed workers after unrest in nearby Oberau. Families first lived in rough wooden huts, but from the 1960s the plots were sold to the settlers. The ridge remains lightly populated, giving it a peaceful, rural feel.
Visitors follow forest tracks east of the summit where the settlement clusters. The surrounding woods offer short walks with wide views over the Vienna basin. Mountain bikers use a marked route that starts near the houses and climbs gently through the trees.
